Backrooms The Backrooms, are a containment fiction horror concept involving a labyrinthine, seemingly endless maze of rooms and environments, credited with popularising the idea of liminal spaces in online horror culture. Though the location has often been represented by branching aesthetic notions such as industrial areas and water-based architecture, its primary conveyance was through the adjacent image of a former furniture store, taken in 2002 but reposted to 4chan throughout the 2010s.
